Russia’s war against Ukraine

As UNIAN reported, Russian troops broke into Ukraine early in the morning on February 24. Including from the territory of Belarus, which Lukashenka kindly handed over to the Russian invaders. The Kremlin did not declare war on Ukraine, but called the full-scale aggression a “special operation” aimed, in particular, at the “denazification” and “demilitarization” of the Ukrainian state.

With unprecedented audacity and cruelty, the invaders are shelling residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles. Also in the occupied areas, Russians commit war crimes by torturing and brutally killing civilians.

Vladimir Putin claimed that The ultimate goal of the war in Ukraine is supposedly the defense of Donbass and the creation of conditions guaranteeing the security of the Russian Federation.

The initial Russian attempt to capture Kyiv in a lightning assault was thwarted, forcing the Russian army to regroup and focus on an artillery campaign in the east. Bilateral ceasefire talks broke down after evidence of war crimes committed by the Russian occupation forces in April was uncovered.

Russia’s actions were condemned by Western countries, which imposed sanctions against Moscow. However, “Buchan executioners” get paid in Russia’s Gazprombank, which has so far escaped massive Western sanctions.
