The Zelenograd court in Moscow ruled to delete the investigation of Alexei Navalny’s team “Yachts, bribes and a mistress. What Minister Lavrov is hiding” at the request of businessman Oleg Deripaska. About it reported in RBC with reference to the entrepreneur’s lawyer.
What kind of investigation are you talking about? “Yachts, bribes and a mistress. What Minister Lavrov is hiding” was released in September 2021. As follows from the investigation, a certain Svetlana Polyakova and members of her family used Deripaska’s private jets and real estate.
At the same time, Navalny’s team called Polyakova an employee of the Foreign Ministry and a close acquaintance of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. In turn, Lavrov lobbied for the interests of the businessman in different countries, according to the investigation.
In addition, in April 2022 editions of The Insider and New Lines published a photograph showing Lavrov, Polyakova and Deripaska during the Foreign Minister’s official visit to Japan in 2018.
What does the lawsuit say. In August 2022, Deripaska sued Alexei Navalny and his associates Maria Pevchikh and Georgy Alburov, who made an investigation. The Insider and the parent companies of other publications that published a photo of Lavrov and the businessman also fell under the lawsuit.
In addition to the investigation, Deripaska demanded that a photograph from Japan be removed from public access, “the illegal use of which is an invasion of privacy,” and a refutation be published. In the telegram channel of Navalny’s Siren team, they specified that 10 days were allocated to fulfill the businessman’s requirements.
What you need to know. Earlier Deripaska already sued with the Navalny team in 2018. Then the court banned the investigation based on the Instagram photo of the employee of the escort agency Nastya Rybka. The image was taken by a businessman who was relaxing on a yacht with former Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko.
