Roskomnadzor added the t.me domain to the blocked register. “Paper”
Roskomnadzor on October 29, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, restricted access to the t.me domain. An hour later, the resource disappeared from register of blocked.
What happened. At 22:45, the first message about the blocking of the t.me domain appeared. According to the Roskomnadzor database, access to the domain was restricted at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office dated October 29, 2022. The domain hosts the web version of the Telegram messenger with short links. No blocking of the application was reported.
At Roskomnadzor at 23:30 reportedthat the blocking of Telegram “is currently excluded on the territory of Russia.” Later, the t.me domain disappeared from the registry of blocked resources.
Updated at 00:30. The Prosecutor General’s Office did not send a request to Roskomnadzor to block the t.me domain, they write “RIA News”, TASS and “RBCwith reference to the department.
What is known about the reasons for blocking. Project “Network Freedoms” writesthat the reason for blocking the domain “almost certainly” was censorship due to the spread of military “fakes”. According to the registry of Roskomsvoboda, the RKN blocked access to three pages are 3 pages with domain t.me, blocked on October 29th. These are publications of Ukrainian telegram channels that call on the Russian military to surrender.
