MGASO conductor invites to the best waltzes from films

On October 30, in the Great Hall of the Conservatory, the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra will present a light program “The Golden Age of World Cinema. The best movie waltzes.

Behind the conductor’s stand is maestro Igor Razumovsky.

The program will feature waltzes from films and the “golden treasury” of world music: the waltzes “Tales of the Vienna Woods” and “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” by Johann Strauss-son, included in the movie “The Great Waltz”, a waltz from the operetta “The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehar, suites by Nino Rota from The Godfather and Nights of Cabiria, musical fantasies by Leonard Bernstein from the film West Side Story, Cinderella’s waltz by Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitry Shostakovich’s waltz from the film The First Echelon, Andrei Petrov’s waltz from the film Beware of the Car , Georgy Sviridov’s waltz from the film “The Snowstorm”, Yevgeny Doga’s waltz from the film “My Sweet and Gentle Beast” and other masterpieces of film music.

“The program on October 30 will feature favorite and recognizable melodies from films. Basically it will be waltzes and dances. There is a lot of film music in the MGASO repertoire, it is quite difficult to select what will be included in one program. In the first part you will hear the music of foreign composers, in the second – works of Russian film music – it will be Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Sviridov, and Khachaturian. The program is extensive and interesting, I’m waiting for you at this wonderful concert of MGASO! ”, – says about the upcoming event conductor Igor Razumovsky.
