In Nizhny Novgorod, the Investigative Committee closed the case of “fakes” about the Russian army due to the lack of corpus delicti. This is the first case of cancellation of the “fake” case, informed human rights project “Network Freedoms”.
Why did they stop the case. A resident of Nizhny Novgorod published a video about the actions of the Russian military in Bucha, Kyiv region in April. He was accused of “publicly disseminating knowingly false information about the use of the RF Armed Forces” (Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code).
According to the defense, the defendant published the video before the Ministry of Defense “officially denied” the events in Irpin and Bucha. In addition, the lawyer was able to prove that the resident of Nizhny Novgorod had no intention to publicly disseminate “knowingly false information” about the Russian army.
What you need to know. At the beginning of April, the media published photographs of dead civilians in the city of Bucha, Kyiv region. According to the Ukrainian authorities, they were killed by the Russian military, who left the city the day before. In addition, representatives of the human rights organization Human Rights Watch reported that they had collected evidence of war crimes by Russian troops in the Kyiv region.
