Petersburg City Court sentenced to a suspended sentence for a Petersburger accused of rehabilitating Nazism because of comments on VKontakte.
According to investigators, from May 4 to May 9, 2021, Artem Antipov left comments under posts congratulating veterans of the Great Patriotic War and information about Victory Day celebrations in public on VKontakte. These comments contained “an image of an artificial penis on a stand with a St. George ribbon tied to it, accompanied by certain text.” Among the publics were “accident and emergency”, “St. Petersburg Live” and “Peter decides.”
Antipov was charged with desecrating the symbols of Russian military glory on the Internet (part 4 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The maximum penalty under this article is five years in prison.
Antipov admitted his guilt, the court considered his case in a special order. As a result, the judge issued a decision on conditional imprisonment for six months with a probationary period of one year.
