The Quirónsalud Andalucía hospitals —Quirónsalud Sacred HeartInfanta Luisa and Maternal-ChildIn sevilla; Quirónsalud Córdoba, field of gibraltarin Los Barrios (Cádiz); Huelva, Malaga and Marbella—, within the framework of International Nursing Day, which is celebrated this Friday, May 12, they value the important role that nursing staff play in a hospital, as well as their vocation and dedication, becoming the pillar of care in a hospital.
This is “a well-deserved recognition for a sector that represents a third of the total workforce in the Quirónsalud hospitals in Andalusia.”
On the occasion of the celebration of this day, Quirónsalud wanted to combine messages of recognition for the work of all nursing staff under the motto #HeartNursing. “Celebrating a day like today is making visible the work that we carry out every day”, he wanted to highlight Carmen Candelanursing director of the hospitals Quirónsalud Sacred Heart and Maternal-Child Quirónsalud of Sevilleto which she added that “for nurses, working means accompanying, listening, alleviating, smiling and, ultimately, caring for our patients and their families in the best possible way, since for that we train, learn and grow in a tireless”.
The traits that most characterize this profession are vocation, performance, and commitment to patient care, and its value is demonstrated daily, which is recognized by patients and family members.
“It is one of the most beautiful vocational professions that exists and at the same time hard, since we accompany and care for patients and their families in very difficult moments of their lives and also in the happiest, we provide comfort and support at all times” has indicated Aranzazu Escalantedirector of nursing Hospital Quirónsalud Córdoba.
Catalina Barrientos, director of nursing at Quirónsalud Huelva
The patient finds fundamental support in the nurse during the treatment and care of his illness and “he will remember how they made him feel”, he points out Catherine Barrientosdirector of nursing Hospital Quirónsalud Huelva. “One of the values of the nursing team is to make themselves felt; with her presence, with her delicacy, with her tenderness, with her know-how (…) That is the strength of nursing ”, he adds.
In this same line, Dolores Lealdirector of nursing Hospital Quirónsalud Infanta Luisa, has underlined for another year the work of these professionals in the emotional field of patients, since “a good nurse has to be a good listener to be able to heal and alleviate, care for and accompany, giving love and smiles, all in exchange for gratitude and affection of our patients”.
Nursing, like all professions, has been changing and this is how it is summarized Rufous Gemthe director of nursing Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar“the discipline of nursing has evolved like the rest of the sciences, in research, ethics, humanism… all of this supported by the very essence of our profession which is: CARE”.
In order for this work of accompaniment and care to have a beneficial impact on the patient, a nurse must have certain personal skills that she must know how to pour into her day to day. “Nursing is more than a vocation, since in addition to the responsibility of caring for our patients, it is the sum of a series of values, such as empathy, sensitivity, commitment or effort, which enrich the care project of a hospital”, added Davinia Canterodirector of nursing Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella.
Beyond knowing how to function professionally and having personal values, Mayte Castellodirector of nursing Hospital Quirónsalud Malaga, has wanted to underline the most passionate and sentimental aspect of the profession, and invites it to be seen not as a job, but as a way of life. “Being a nurse is a passion for care and people, because it is the one who cares, who accompanies and who shares fears and concerns, in short, who teaches the patient and her family.” A profession that is “an art; the art of caring ”, she has concluded her.
In addition to the words of gratitude and admiration for the profession, the Andalusian hospitals of the Quirónsalud Group will implement numerous actions and activities, such as the delivery of gifts in recognition of their work, the recording of videos with hospital nursing staff and other actions that will make up the celebration of International Nursing Day.
