
From May 15 to May 19, the MONITOR SBS cinema (Krasnodar) will host a week of Orthodox cinema dedicated to the holy Enlighteners of the Slavs – Cyril and Methodius. The program includes six feature films and documentaries about a person’s desire for faith, beauty, goodness and peace.
Film screenings are held with the blessing of Metropolitan Gregory of Yekaterinodar and Kuban. The organizers are the network of cinemas “Monitor” and the department of religious education and catechesis of the Yekaterinodar diocese.
The Orthodox Cinema Week will open with a screening of the innovative feature film “Russian Cross” based on the poem of the same name by the Russian poet Nikolai Melnikov, starring Mikhail Porechenkov.
For five days, viewers will get acquainted with films about repentance and the spiritual rebirth of a person, key points in the spiritual geography of Russia, the role of icons in the Orthodox world, Orthodox saints and the righteous.
The closing film will be Sergei Debizhev’s documentary “The Holy Archipelago” about the life of the Solovetsky Monastery.
