… – Dmitry Sergeyevich, when Vladimir Putin became the head of the Russian state in 2000, in fact, one of his first visits was a trip to Baku, to Azerbaijan …
It was this topic that the Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist suggested to the official representative of the Kremlin to discuss on Wednesday, May 10.
I then covered, among other journalists, this business trip. And for some reason I remember that Vladimir Putin handed Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev a diploma (copy) on graduating from the KGB school of the USSR. That is, Putin and Aliyev were colleagues in every sense.
– Today, May 10, is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev. It is for this reason, as I understand it, that Ilham Aliyev did not come to our parade on May 9. How does the Kremlin – both the president and the administration – celebrate the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, one of the leaders of the Soviet state, as our media call him?
– Well, this is a completely extraordinary person, – this is how Peskov responded, answering my question about Heydar Aliyev. – A person who entered the history of our once common country, who entered the history forever – modern Azerbaijan, and who entered the history of modern Russian-Azerbaijani relations. Of course, we share the joy (meaning) of this date together with our Azerbaijani friends.
And, of course, we keep the memory of the role that Heydar Aliyev contributed to everything we spoke about above.
– Thanks a lot.
– Please.
