
The capital of Huelva will host next Sunday, May 14, the ‘II Skate Day’an initiative that includes a animated route on wheels through the city and Activities for the whole family in the tents on Avenida Andalucía. A sports and fun day that is driven by the GiraRoller Sports Club counting on the support of Huelva City Hall.
The Councilor for Citizen Participation and Sports, María Teresa Flores, wanted to highlight “it is also a very important event because it combines sport and solidarity, since the benefits obtained will go to the Huelva association Aspaproniaswhich carries out fundamental work in the city with people with intellectual disabilities”.
In this way, the mayor points out, “after the success of the first edition, which brought together more than 200 skaters through the streets of Huelva, we want Huelva residents, children and adults, to be able to enjoy a lively day of skating, sports, and fun, promoting healthy leisure and integration, since by registering for this event, which has a symbolic cost of 3 euros, they will be supporting a good cause and will be entered into a raffle for skates valued at 300 euros”.
As Mavi Llordén, president of GiraRolller, has also indicated, “our objective is to promote skating in our city, so that it is not seen only as a sport that is learned as a child and then forgotten, and to do so in an inclusive manner, making people aware of also to the people of Huelva that in the city there are beautiful routes to discover on skates”.
People who go on scooters, skaters and cyclists are also invited to participate in this great skate party, since skateboarding or cycling are other options to participate in this event and the only requirement to do the tour will be that it be a vehicle on wheels without motor
For her part, Verónica Cabeza, director of two Aspapronias centers, stressed that “we would like people to discover life on wheels, because it offers a vision that changes everything.” In addition, “it will also be a very inclusive day, since they will be collaborating as volunteers in the different user activities of our entity in order to give visibility to people of all abilities, since that is the way to change society.”
This event, which has the collaboration of other Huelva clubs such as Roller House and Onuba Rollers for its development, will have as its starting point the tents on Avenida de Andalucía, from where a route will begin that will also culminate in this space, where the animation will be present after the whole day with numerous proposals and surprises for attendees.
Hours of the II Skate Day
Regarding the hours of this event, registrations can be made at the beginning of the same ‘Skate Day’, at 10:00 am, at the table that GiraRoller will set up in the tents on Avenida Andalucía, and at approximately 10:30 it is scheduled Let the family skate route begin.
The route will start from Avenida Andalucía in the direction of Calle San Sebastián, and then go down to Pablo Rada. Later, you will reach the Plaza de las Monjas along Tres de Agoto street, to continue later along Martín Alonso Pinzón avenue, Alameda Sundheim avenue, and go up Plaza de España to Guatemala avenue until you reach the roundabout on Avenida del New Columbian. Then you will go down Isla Cristina street, Federico Molina street and finally you will turn onto Galaroza street until you return to the tents on Andalucía avenue.
Subsequently, from 12:00 noon, the activities will begin to liven up this family day in which, in addition to exhibitions and games with skates for adults, the participants will be able to enjoy hockey and torpedo ball proposals.
Likewise, there will be an area dedicated especially to boys and girls, where there will be no shortage of games and face painting for the entertainment of the little ones.
Finally, given that the objective of ‘Skate Day’ is that it can also become a very participatory and coexistence day, both the City Council and GiraRoller have also wanted to encourage people who do not skate or who cannot to attend this route, to go later to the tents on Avenida Andalucía, and because they will be able to enjoy the solidarity bar with food and drink throughout the day that will be set up in this part of the city.
