Figure skater Roman Kostomarov It was the first time he himself got in touch after a serious illness. He published a post on social networks in which he thanked everyone who worried and prayed for him.
“Thanks to everyone who worried about me, prayed for me, believed that I would get out of this most difficult situation that life gave me,” wrote the Olympic champion.
Kostomarov noted that there are many difficulties ahead, but he hopes to cope with them thanks to the support of relatives and friends, as well as doctors. The latter, according to the skater, pulled him out of the other world, and now they continue to work with him.
“There is a lot of hard work ahead,” Kostomarov summed up.
The figure skater attached a photo to the post in which he looks overgrown and thin.
As the KP.RU website wrote earlier, Kostomarov turned out to be in reanimation January 10, 2023. It happened after his performance in the ice show, part of which took place in the cold in the open air. Despite feeling unwell, the skater continued to practice performances. As a result, he was taken to the hospital with a severe form of pneumonia, in which the lung damage was 75%.
Doctors connected the Olympic champion to a ventilator. Later, it was decided to connect Kostomarov to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation of the lungs (ECMO). This was necessary for the active saturation of the blood with oxygen.
The state of the athlete is rapidly worsened, blood poisoning and tissue death began. Doctors did everything possible to save the skater’s legs and arms. But in the end they had to hold Kostomarov multiple amputations.
