Less than three days have passed since the death of fashion maestro Vyacheslav Zaitsev, when his student Valentin Yudashkin passed away.
The designer burned out from an oncological disease with which he had been struggling in recent years. For the fashion world, the departure of Zaitsev, and then Yudashkin, is a real tragedy. By and large, the couturiers have not grown a bright shift for themselves. “Couture” in Russia was made only by these two great masters.

Only they treated fashion as a great art.
Valentin Yudashkin was a student of Zaitsev. However, like all Russian designers. But Valentin managed to find his face and eventually stand on the same level with the maestro of fashion. His Faberge collection, costumes shaped like precious Easter eggs, caused a sensation in Paris. One of these dresses ended up in the Louvre collection.
When we met with Yudashkin for an interview at his Fashion House, the first thing that stunned was Valentine’s modesty …
Introvert, creator and not a locomotive at all. Quiet, humble. Apparently, the wife and the team, believing in his talent, protected Valentin from the financial fuss, did everything possible so that the artist could calmly create.

Farewell to the designer took place at the Troekurovsky cemetery. The Yudashkin family – mother Raisa Petrovna, wife Marina, daughter Galina and son-in-law Pyotr Maksakov arrived at the cemetery in the early morning, long before the official farewell. As well as at the couturier shows, there was a real starfall: Klara Novikova, Nikolai Baskov, Vladimir Mashkov, Alexander Strizhenov, Konstantin Ernst, Vladimir Vinokur, Anna Kalashnikova, Olga Orlova, Alexander Rosenbaum and many others came to the memorial service.

One of the first to enter the funeral hall was the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov. Yudashkin was the author of the wedding dress of Dmitry’s wife, Olympic champion Tatyana Navka. Following the politician, a tearful Nadezhda Babkina entered the hall. Specially for the funeral of Yudashkin, his main muse Alla Pugacheva flew from Israel.
– How are you? Glad to see you! – Dmitry Peskov greeted Pugachev.
“Alla has long been not just my client, she is my closest friend,” Valentin Yudashkin said in a recent interview with KP. – Working with Pugacheva was sometimes difficult, but very interesting. And we are still interested in being together, which is why we have been friends for so many years. For a long time, other designers have been doing things for Alla. I sew for her only when I see that something is missing in her image. And on occasion I give her things, ”the late couturier spoke of friendship with Alla Pugacheva.

The incident, unfortunately, fell out sad, but Alla Pugacheva nevertheless came to say goodbye in the image that Yudashkin invented for her: a black hoodie, hat, lace gloves and a string of white pearls.

After the funeral service in the Troyekurovsky funeral hall, the coffin with the body of the couturier was carried out to the street to applause. To the burial place of a friend of Pugachev, she calmly walked in a crowd of fans, without protection. Only designer Igor Gulyaev supported Alla Borisovna by the arm.
From the Kirkorov family was 90-year-old Bedros. This year turned out to be difficult for Father Philip Kirkorov, Bedros had been ill with covid twice, so he came to the memorial service in a protective mask. Yes, and this year the legs failed Kirkorov Sr. more than once, so the artist now walks, leaning on two sticks.

“At the very beginning of my son’s career, Valentin was the author of all his stage costumes,” said Bedros Kirkorov. – Valentin had great connections in Paris: he got rare materials and accessories there. Now everything is possible for money. And then even if there were funds, nothing could be bought. I kept all the costumes that Yudashkin made for Philip in our old apartment on Zemlyanoy Val. The legendary golden cloak is also kept there, in which Philip performed in the final of the show “The Best, Beloved and Only for You!”. And for more than 20 years, Philip has ended each of his shows with an exit in the very raincoat that Yudashkin invented for him.

“Not only a wonderful artist has left, but also a true friend,” says Nikolai Baskov. – How many unique things Valentine came up with for me. For example, the costume of Emperor Caesar for the show “Game”. Then, on the instructions of Valentine, the outfit was embroidered by craftswomen from a Parisian atelier, where the costumes of the heroes of the Game of Thrones were previously decorated. The look featured mirror stones, a gold-plated brass wreath, and gold sneakers. Valentin was a real master of his craft, a legend! Baskov recalls.
