Meanwhile, only a few celebrities came to say goodbye to the couturier – Nadezhda Babkina, Bedros Kirkorov, Sergey Zverev. And Alla Pugacheva, for whom Zaitsev once created a branded hoodie, didn’t even send a wreath. Farewell to the great fashion designer was very, very modest.

– Yes, just a disgrace – shared with KP.RU Nikolai Golovin, a close friend of Zaitsev and the ex-director of his Fashion House. By the way, he didn’t get to the funeral: on the eve he broke his shoulder and ended up in the hospital on the operating table. – Considering the scale of the name, to organize such farewells – everyone is simply in shock. I went to the Novodevichy cemetery, and I already agreed on a free place – what was the problem of burying him there? And if we talk about the desires of Vyacheslav Mikhailovich, then Yegor did not fulfill them either. Zaitsev wanted to be cremated, and he always talked about it on occasion. But cremation costs money. And this funeral, as I understand it, the family did not cost a penny – for the couturier, the local authorities did everything for free.
– And why didn’t they bury them at Troekurovsky, if it’s also free of charge? Did Zaitsev’s son even know about this possibility?
Well, of course he knew everything. I think he specifically took revenge on his father. Until he destroys everything connected with his name, he will not calm down. Just six months left to wait.

– And what will happen in six months?
– He will inherit. Now, after all, 53% of the Fashion House belongs to Vyacheslav Zaitsev, and six months will pass, and Egor will get everything. To be honest, concrete walls are of little interest to me. But the creative heritage – yes. It has accumulated enormously over the years: since 1982 alone, Zaitsev created 5278 sketches that were put into production. And this is only the archive of the Fashion House, and how much was created even earlier in the All-Union House of Models, the archive of which has been lost. Where is it all?
On New Year’s Eve I came to visit Zaitsev and asked him – where are the archives? – “I took everything out, the assistant will show you.” We go into the workshop, and I only visually see that there is no more than 10% of the entire archive. I know these folders well, I have worked with them for many years. There were sketches for both Muslim Magomayev and Valery Leontiev…
– Who could pick up these sketches? And how valuable are they?
– Complex issue. I think now sketches will periodically pop up somewhere at auctions. A collection of them, of course, is hardly possible to release, but to sell – yes. Zaitsev always signed his sketches, and his signature is very recognizable.
But in general, these works should be exhibited, shown to young designers and artists. This is an inexhaustible source of inspiration – it could turn out to be an incredible exhibition. And the memory of Zaitsev would be alive. But globally, all this is lost, alas. It just so happened.
– And what is the reason for the conflict between Zaitsev Sr. and Jr.? What kind of resentment does the son have that even after his death he never forgave his father?
– Yes, how much Vyacheslav Mikhailovich did for Yegor, for his mother, for all his children whom he gave birth – forty times already everything could be forgiven. Well, yes, his parents divorced when Yegor was little. And what? Were there many such families? Yegor was brought up in hatred for his father – they say, his father left, his father left … But. If the father is such a beast, then why did his ex-wife keep the name Zaitseva? Why didn’t Yegor give up his father’s surname? They are all Zaitsevs, and all their lives they sat on Zaitsev’s suction. Egor never worked anywhere where Slava Zaitsev would not be the leader. Amazing “hatred” to the father! Hates and eats from his hand. When I explained this to Kobzon, he could not understand – they say, father needs help, he should be proud of. But in life it didn’t work out that way. And the only thing that can be added here is that Yegor Zaitsev will never become a truly famous Yegor Zaitsev. He will forever remain just the son of Vyacheslav Zaitsev. He himself understands this well, and therefore he is still furious.
