The best soccer youth academies will meet in Punta Umbría from May 19 to 21
The youth academy comes to Punta Umbría, which will once again host the soccer tournament Costa de la Luz Cup Santander from May 19 to 21. On this occasion, the number of participating teams amounts to a round figure of 100, since a new category has been incorporated, Genuine, made up of four clubs whose players have some intellectual disability.
This championship was presented this afternoon at the Auditorium of the Barceló Punta Umbría Beach Resort, in an event full of former players, coaches and journalists from the world of football.
In the words of the mayor, Aurora Aguedo“Punta Umbría is proud to collaborate in the organization of one of the most important tournaments in Andalusia”.
Aurora Águedo has pointed out that “the town has been working on the tourism-sports relationship for years and this event is an example of public-private collaboration that attracts some 9,000 people to our town, all of them staying here, during the middle season.”
The tournament is sponsored in this edition by the coach and former national coach Javier Clemente. The journalist Tomás Roncero, captain of the Costa de la Luz Cup, has not missed the appointment either. In addition, this year the organization of the tournament has managed to have the participation of Capi, a former Real Betis player; José Emilio Amavisca, former Real Madrid player among other clubs; and Diego Capel, former player of Sevilla FC or Sporting de Portugal.
The gala, which each edition has a multitude of personalities from the province and from Huelva football, has been seen live on astv.com.
The tournament is made up of four categories: alevín (born in 2011), benjamín (2013), prebenjamín (2015) and genuine. The first three with 32 teams each distributed in 8 groups. The last one, made up of 4 teams that compete in a single group.
Among the participating teams with their youth academies are several internationals such as Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Juventus Turin, Benfica or Sporting Portugal, and the participation of the Wakatake team from Japan.
On a national level, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis Balompié, Sevilla FC, Málaga CF, Valencia CF, Villarreal CF and Rayo Vallecano will compete to win the champion’s trophy. And, of course, the Real Club Recreativo de Huelva and other provincial teams such as CD Punta Umbría with their respective youth academies, as well as teams from all the Andalusian provinces, Extremadura and even Tenerife.
Two venues to welcome the quarry
