
The summit will be held May 24-25 in Moscow
The development of human capital, cooperation in the field of technology, the future of integration formats of cooperation and aspects of digital transformation will be discussed by participants in the business program of the II Eurasian Economic Forum, which will be held May 24-25 in Moscow. The forum is timed to coincide with the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council with the participation of the heads of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and observer states. The operator of the event is the Roscongress Foundation.
“The Eurasian Economic Forum aims to cover as much as possible the relevant areas of interaction within the framework of the EAEU. The program of the Forum includes consideration of issues of scientific and technical cooperation between the countries of the association and the development of joint approaches in the fields of industry, ecology and energy, as well as issues of technical and customs regulation, organization of the internal market of states. Another important task of the Forum is to create a platform for establishing contacts between business and government agencies. I am sure that the work within the framework of the Forum will make it possible to develop specific solutions in all areas of multilateral cooperation,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The forum will be held under the motto “Eurasian Integration in a Multipolar World”. The key event will be the plenary session of the Forum. In total, within the framework of the EEF-2023, about 35 business sessions will be held, which will be divided into seven thematic areas.
As part of the Human Capital track, experts will discuss the prospects for unlocking the tourism potential of the EAEU countries, work with young talents, labor migration issues, interuniversity scientific and technical cooperation, and experience in countering the coronavirus pandemic.
Discussions of the thematic block “Technologies and Cooperation” will be devoted to the issues of technological sovereignty as a guarantee of energy and food security, regulation in the field of ecology, organization of the food market and development of entrepreneurship in the new conditions. In addition, experts will discuss aspects of the functioning of the Unified System of Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union and the removal of barriers to trade, as well as standardization as a tool to ensure product safety and quality.
The participants of the sessions within the framework of the “EAEU in a Changing World” area will consider key areas of cooperation between the EAEU, the SCO and BRICS, monetary and financial cooperation and the transition to new forms of settlements in mutual trade. There will also be Business Dialogues dedicated to the cooperation of the Eurasian integration format with Indonesia and Latin American countries.
Sessions of the thematic block “Eurasian conjugation” will reveal key issues on the digital agenda: state regulation of the IT industry, the circulation of personal data in the EAEU space and the import independence of the countries of the integration association in the software and telecommunications equipment markets. Discussions within this area will also focus on international settlements and digital assets, e-commerce, the creation of the Eurasian Reinsurance Company and new data sources in the EAEU statistics.
The participants of the track “Internal Market of the EAEU: Customs Cooperation, Competition and Public Procurement” will discuss the issues of improving the Union’s law in the face of modern challenges and customs regulation, digital systems for detecting bid rigging and digitalization of public procurement.
The “Strategic Block” will become a platform for discussing the EAEU Strategy – 2030+: the participants will answer questions about what should be the key goal of the EAEU development for the period up to 2045, what specific steps need to be taken to ensure the achievement of the development goals of the integration association, as well as what are the new directions for the strategic development of the EAEU.
On the margins of the Eurasian Economic Forum, the International Climate Competition “Green Eurasia”, the Business Breakfast of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, dedicated to the discussion of new opportunities for the development of international cooperation in Eurasia, and the Business Breakfast of the Business Dialogue of the EAEU – Indonesia will be held.
In addition, the program of the block of the EAEU Business Council is planned, which provides for two events: a session on entrepreneurial activity as a driver of Eurasian economic integration, as well as a meeting of the Presidium of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The II Eurasian Economic Forum and the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council are held as part of the chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union in 2023. The purpose of the Forum is to improve cooperative ties in the Eurasian space.
