As is the case with other parts of the franchise, the script is based on a literary work: in this case, on the eponymous novel by Suzanne Collins. The book tells about Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blythe) – the future dictator of the state of Panem, who is still only 18.

The action takes place during the tenth Hunger Games, 64 years before the circumstances of the canonical “GI”, when Snow is appointed as a mentor of one of the participants – Girls from District 12 named Lucy Gray Bird (Rachel Zegler). Young Coriolanus is betting on her – and decides that he can lead the girl to victory, against all odds.
