The president of the Provincial Council of HuelvaMaría Eugenia Limón, accompanied by the Vice President of Economic and Social Innovation, Juan Antonio García, received this Thursday in the Patio of the provincial institution the students and teachers of the IES Diego de Guzman and Quesadaparticipants in the XVII edition of the ‘Young Andalusians building Europe’ award (JACE) with a project that has represented the entire province.

The JACE contest is convened by the European Information Network of Andalusia and coordinated by the provincial European Information Centers with the aim of promoting, fostering and disseminating knowledge of the European Union among students and teaching staff of existing educational centers in the autonomous community of Andalusia, in which around 200 students have participated.

For the president of the provincial institution, “it is a pride for all of us that you have been the only center that has represented our province in this seventeenth edition of the award, and that you have been very well positioned with your project, which has revolved around to the motto ‘United in diversity’ of the European Union”.

Limón wanted to reward with a gift “all the effort and dedication of the team, because we know that participation in initiatives like this is very difficult nowadays, for which it is necessary to have a teaching staff committed to this type of project and with the institutions, since it entails a double effort and extraordinary work”.

As the president has highlighted, “it is very important to appreciate the work and the opportunity developed by all of you, without forgetting that this IES is the only center in the province where the international baccalaureate is studied, which predisposes students to cross our borders with greater knowledge and greater preparation”.

Limón explained to the students of Diego Guzmán y Quesada “the essential work carried out by the European Information Center ‘Europe Direct Huelva’ when it comes to serving all people, municipalities or companies that want to maintain some contact with Europe, through of calls for subsidies, because they want to go to work abroad, take a competitive exam in an EU country, etc.”

For their part, the teaching staff thanked the president and ‘Europe Direct Huelva’ “for having lived a beautiful experience, for coexistence, and educational, when it came to discovering existing opportunities at a European level”.

Specifically, the Huelva center’s project revolved around the European Union motto ‘United in diversity’, as indicated in the competition rules. In an attractive, fun and close way, they have presented their project through a theater in which the main characters, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, go around Europe in the 21st century, knowing first-hand the different cultures, the character of the citizenship of the different member states of the EU, discovering how diverse they are but united, at the same time.

Europe Direct Huelva

The European Information Center ‘Europe Direct Huelva’ has been fulfilling since 2005 such essential objectives as allowing local citizens to consult and obtain information, advice, assistance and answers to their questions about institutions, legislation, policies, programs and the financing possibilities of the European Union.

Likewise, Europe Direct Huelva organizes activities -conferences, workshops, seminars, meetings, debates, etc.- related to the European Union policies that have the greatest impact in the province of Huelva, in addition to collaborating in all those activities organized by public entities and associations of the province and that are related to the policies and institutions of the EU. The center is, therefore, a benchmark in information on the European Union in the province, being the first information step, the information link located by the European Union in Huelva.
