The Bishop of Huelva, santiago gomezhas written a letter signed on April 26 of this year, in which he asks “the Lord” imploring “the gift of rain” and in which he highlights the “various damages that the drought that we are suffering brings with it.”
In this way, the bishop invites the parishioners to join the prayer for rain that will take place in the diocesan capital on May 14 at 8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Belt in Huelva.
“When the problems caused by this drought overwhelm us, in addition to remembering the commitment to take care of the ‘common home’ of the earth, the Church has traditionally turned to the Lord, imploring the gift of rain”, continues the letter in which it adds , appealing to the parishioners, “I beg you, with a true spirit of piety, we implore the Lord for the end of this drought”, arranging that this intention be added to the prayer at mass.
The bishop’s prayer
The bishop includes in the letter a prayer that “summarizes” what is requested and that reads: “O God, in whom we live, move and exist, grant us the opportune rain, so that helped with the goods of the present, we confidently desire the eternal».
In this way, he asks priests, deacons, religious communities, “and all the faithful who are in the habit of praying it”, to “incorporate in the prayers of the Liturgy of the Hours a petition for much-needed rain”, as well as to “Let us invoke” Mary “who is so aware of our needs as in Cana, with the Holy Rosary, asking for the gift of rain.”
The letter ends by inviting you to join this rogation that will be made in the diocesan capital on May 14 at 8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Cinta in Huelva.
