As part of the 45th Moscow Film Festival in October, a new cartoon was presented – Yaga and the Book of Spells.
“We wanted to make an animated film that would tell a new story of well-known characters from familiar and beloved fairy tales, and at the same time we came up with several completely new characters,” says film producer Alexander Chistyakov.

The secular premiere was visited by many stellar guests, among whom was 90-year-old Bedros Kirkorov with his grandchildren – Alla Victoria and Martin.
Bedros is now on the wave of gossip columns, the artist is divorcing his wife Lyudmila, with whom he lived for more than 20 years. According to Father Philip Kirkorov, his wife refused to move to him, and it is difficult for him to live in two cities – Veliky Novgorod and Moscow.
Moreover, over the past year, Bedros was sick a lot, he needed decent care. And my wife wasn’t there…
Even Kirkorov Sr. came to the premiere, leaning on two sticks. Soon he goes back for examination, his legs are bothering him.
– I liked the cartoon. Our generation, of course, is completely different. Philip grew up on a terrible Yaga, – Bedros Kirkorov shared with KP.RU. – And from my grandchildren, I noticed that children are already weaning from the terrible Baba Yaga. And here Yaga is not scary, pretty.
– And what kind of fairy-tale characters did you like?
– I don’t even remember what fairy tales we had. Although … Karabas-Barabas from the fairy tale “Golden Key” was my favorite hero.
Who is Philip’s? Yaga?
– No, he liked Pinocchio, – Bedros laughed.

WHAT IS THE CARTOON ABOUT?
The red-haired witch Yaga lives with a cat-inventor and cheerful brownies in a hut in the swamps of the Far Far Away Kingdom and practices magic. To learn how to do magic for real, she lacks the Book of Spells, stolen from her many years ago by the evil sorceress Belladonna. Suddenly, fate gives Yaga a chance to get even with the sworn offender, when Princess Sineglazka appears on the threshold of the hut. What is the power of true magic, and who will be the real villain?
The cartoon, made by Art Pictures Studio, Gluk’oza Animation studio with the support of the Cinema Fund, became a participant in the official out-of-competition program of the MIFF.

The cartoon will be released in wide Russian distribution on April 27, 2023, the distributor is the NMG Kinoprokat company, which is part of the National Media Group holding.
