
Next Wednesday, May 3, from 12:00 noon, the inscriptions for the ‘XXII Villa de Paterna Grand Prix BTT Cycling Route’proves that in its twenty-second edition it will be the XCM Spanish Cup that will take place next 1 October 2023. This test, which organizes the Town Hall of Paterna del Campois included in the UCI Marathon events calendar, as a UCI C1 class event.
For the mayor of Paterna del Campo, Juan Salvador Domínguez, “its impressive route of 85 kilometers and a positive difference of 2,000 metres, with a terrifying and extremely tough finish uphill in the well-known ‘Pinguete’, is a great attraction and quite a challenge in the fight for the XCM regional titles”.
The competition is held according to the technical and sports regulations of the International Cycling Union (UCI), for the UCI Elite female and male categories, also being this year the final test of the XCM 2023 Spanish Cup.
The registration limit, due to logistics capacity, will be 1,500 registered. This edition will have two registration options at different prices. Registrations with a runner’s bag and registration without a runner’s bag at a cheaper price.
Non-federated runners who want to participate will have an increase of 10 euros for a federation license for one day.
As for the prizes of the test, there will be a trophy for the first three of each category, male and female; and prizes to local runners also by category (cumulative prize). The cash prizes will be those stipulated according to current UCI regulations for the XC Class 1 events.
Almost 100% of the route runs through protected natural environments, which is why both the organization and the runners must ensure that the impact on nature and the environment is minimized. In this way, any participant who throws garbage along the route, is not respectful of the environment (rolling outside the official route, taking shortcuts, damaging vegetation, etc.) is not careful with the animals, leave behind some type of residue (punctured cameras, spare parts, etc.), they may be penalized and expelled. They will be enabled in the container supplies to be able to deposit these remains in them.
