Terrible news concerning the family of the famous KP journalist Daria Aslamova came from Croatia. Her husband, independent Croatian journalist Robert Valdec, was attacked. He was hit on the back of the head, causing serious injury. Robert lost consciousness, he is now in the hospital. This is the second such incident in recent times. Last autumn, unknown people broke into Valdets’ house at night and beat him, breaking his ribs and punching his head.
Although the Croatian media wrote about this incident, the country’s authorities showed no interest. Robert was not granted protection. However, since February last year, the journalist has regularly received threats on Croatian social networks with accusations that he and his Russian wife are “Russian spies”. In her Telegram channel, Daria wrote that in the winter she managed to take her husband to Moscow on a 3-month visa. Robert wrote articles about how Muscovites actually live. That they are not starving, as reported by Western media. That the stores are full of products. About how people celebrate the New Year and Epiphany. Threats rained down again: “Just dare to return to Croatia! You will see what will happen to you!” In spite of everything, Valdets returned, but it turned out that they really were waiting for him there.
– Russophobia is merciless bloody racism! Dasha writes. – It is alarming that both attacks are professionally organized. The obvious purpose of these cruel and vile beatings is to intimidate the journalist and make him an outcast, to deprive him of his homeland.
Threats also come to Daria Aslamova. Komsomolskaya Pravda is following the developments and reserves the right to apply to the competent international authorities with a demand to protect the Russian journalist and her husband. We would also like to know what Croatian officials will do to ensure that these heinous incidents do not happen again.
