The Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Trainingthrough the Andalusian Public Education Agency, has published in the Contractor’s Profile of the Junta de Andalucía the award of the contract to carry out the reform works of the IES Galeón de Christina Island. The company Sedeño & Muñoz UTE has been awarded these works, for an amount of 385,533.23 euros and with an execution period of five months from the start of the intervention.
The works will consist of carrying out different actions in the exterior spaces of the center, such as the porch, the sports court and the sidewalk, as well as the gymnasium building, which currently presents various pathologies.
Specifically, the project contemplates the reform of the urbanization of the courtyard, the construction of a shaded area of 360 square meters and the provision of an accessible route that connects the courtyard with the main building and the gym. Likewise, the sports court will be renovated and different works will be carried out in the gym, which has some 1,300 square meters of surface area. In the latter, the pathologies of the structure and the support profiles of the envelope will be solved, the lighting installation will be replaced and the roof skylights will be improved.
This action has European funding through the REACT-UE funds within the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2014-2020, as part of the European Union’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan of the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training, which is executed through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education.
